Maki & Ramen Supports Leicestershire Action for Mental Health Project
Maki & Ramen understands that meals out can do more, we can give back to local communities in need. We’re proud to partner with LAMP, a powerful local charity – advocates for mental health.
Leicestershire Action for Mental Health Project is your local mental health advocacy service, providing free information, advice and support to adults across the whole of Leicestershire and Rutland.
Mental health advocacy can be life changing for someone facing a challenge as you can see below from Lilly’s story. Their advocates provide one to one support and will always fight your corner, working with you to feel listened to, understood and empowered. The Lamp advocates vouch to help you receive the care that you want and are entitled to.
Besides advocacy, they also offer an information and advice service where they will listen to your concerns and find a solution that is right for you. Alongside their telephone and email services they are also often out and about providing community outreach, so you are always welcome to come and say hi to the team.
Lilly’s Story
After years of struggling with trauma, PTSD, and depression, Lilly was struggling to get the mental health support she truly needed. She felt unheard and dismissed – until she came to LAMP.
Paired with one of our advocates, Lilly finally felt listened to. Together, they wrote a powerful letter to her local Community Mental Health Team asking for re-assessment and put together a care plan.
The result?
– Reassessment approved
– Medication reviewed
– Access to the specific therapy Lilly asked for
Her journey shows how advocacy changes lives. Sometimes, just being listened to is the most important part of a journey.
