Who Are Changing Lives?

Changing Lives is a nationwide charity helping people facing the most challenging of circumstances make positive change – for good. We believe that everyone deserves a safe home, a rewarding job and a life free from addiction, exploitation and abuse.

NIDAS

NIDAS (Newcastle Integrated Domestic Abuse Service) provides specialist support to anyone experiencing domestic abuse or sexual violence in Newcastle. We work with Women & Men who are experiencing domestic abuse to provide support in the community and with women and children to provide safe accommodation.

Our dedicated teams of staff and volunteers are made up of passionate individuals, who are all committed to providing the right help at the right time and advocate on behalf of the people we support.

Read Louise’s story below:

“I had been married for 11 years, having experienced what I now understand to be domestic abuse for 4 of these. The helpline number was given to me by a friend. When I called, I didn’t know what to expect but the person who answered the call listened, without judgement, without telling me what I should do. I wasn’t ready to leave at that point but when I spoke to my Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) they explained all of my options to me, around children’s support, financial support, housing options and police and court options.

I have now moved out, my children are healthy and happy, we are recovering, and I am starting to regain my confidence and myself back. The support I received from my IDVA was life changing”
